The Origins of the Group
Metal Group’s business activities started in the
early 1980’s when Ongis Metal Fer was
founded. It’s activities at the time were limited
almost exclusively to the collection of metals.
Thanks to a solid working relationship with
some of the most important steel mills and
foundries in Europe, Ongis Metal Fer soon
became one of the most important companies
in the recovery and distribution of metals, and
the leader of the stainless steel market.
The 1990’s saw the consolidation of the group
and the formation of many small operating
units and “Metal Group SpA” as a result of a
complex internal reorganization. In these years
the necessary foundation was laid which later
allowed the group to make future acquisitions.
This is in fact the goal, to continue to expand
and diversify and at the same time add other
sectors more closely related to the principal
activities of the group.
The future will see Metal Group dedicated to
expansion and striving to reach its goals of
quality and excellence, which they feel are
indispensable to the promotion of their products
in the markets in which they operate.
The desire to accomplish all of this without
forgetting the spirit of the company which
allowed it to expand from a small company
into an international group in little more than twenty years.
